What to Expect at Your First At-Home Lash Extensions Appointment

Making the decision to enhance your eyes with lash extensions can be exciting, but knowing what to expect during your first at-home appointment can help make the experience even more enjoyable. Here’s everything you need to know when you decide to take your lashes to the next level with us in the comfort of your own home.

Can I tell the lash technician what I want?

Absolutely! We always start with a thorough consultation to understand your desired look and assess your natural lashes. This step is crucial for understanding your lash goals as well as customising the length, curl, and thickness of the extensions to complement your natural eye shape and facial features. If you have any photo references, show them to us as well.

What should I prepare?

We recommend selecting a comfortable, quiet space in your scheduled location with a sofa or bed for us to carry out the service. Please switch on the air conditioner 15 minutes prior to your appointment, switch off all fans and remove all humidifiers and dehumidifiers from the room. Aside from that, we bring along all the necessary beauty equipment required for your appointment.

How long is the appointment?

The application process can take anywhere from 90 minutes to two hours, depending on the desired fullness and style.

What is the process like?

  • Lash cleaning - Your eyelids and lashes will be cleaned with a mild cleanser to ensure your lashes are kept clean. Any eye make-up is also removed during this time.
  • Lash prep - Patches are gently applied to the undereye area to hold down your bottom lashes. Next, a primer is applied to your upper lashes, and your natural lashes are carefully fanned out.
  • Lash work - With steady hands, silk or mink lashes will be applied strand by strand to achieve a full, natural look.
  • Lash review - Open your eyes to a new world of lightweight lashes that feel just like your own. At the end of your treatment, we will personally review your treatment with you, and make refinements and tweaks as requested.

What happens if I fall asleep?

No worries at all, we want you to be as comfortable as possible during your appointment. The process is typically painless (most would normally describe it as a mild sensation or just a light pressure on your eyelids and lashes) and many clients find it to be a great opportunity for a little rest and relaxation.

Can I wear makeup to my lash appointment?

It’s required that your eye area be clean and completely free of makeup. You can wear moisturizer and foundation but no under eye concealer, mascara, etc. Any makeup around your eye area will be removed before the start of your session. We recommend coming prepared with a clean face so your artist has the most time possible to spend on your lashes.

What should I do after the appointment?

At the end of the session, we will offer advice on how to best care for your new lashes to maximise their lifespan, including how to properly clean them, the best practices for sleeping, and which products to avoid. For best retention, it’s important to avoid getting them wet for the first 12 hours post-service.

In all, we hope that we have answered your questions and you feel ready for your first at-home lash extensions appointment. If you haven't scheduled your appointment, book yours now here.
