What happens if I get laminated brows wet within the first 24 hours?

You just got your brows laminated, and you’re ready to show them off. One of the first things your Beauty Consultant tells you about brow lamination aftercare is to avoid exercise, saunas, and water on your new lashes for the first day - but what happens if you get your brows wet before the 24-hour mark?

Keep reading for what to do if you get your laminated brows wet, how to prevent it from happening, and how to fix your brow lamination if it’s already happened.

What is brow lamination?

Brow lamination involves restructuring the brow hairs to keep them in a desired shape and direction, achieved through a chemical solution. This process makes the brow hairs more malleable and, ultimately, sets them in their new position. The first 24 hours post-treatment are vital because the solution applied to your brows continues to process and solidify the hairs into their new shape.

What happens if I get my brows wet?

Getting your brow lamination wet before the 24-hour mark can impact the retention of the treatment. The solutions used need time to fully bond and set onto your brow hairs, and water may interfere with the process by breaking down the solution. As a result, this might affect the curl and lift, causing them to look uneven or less defined than the intended look.

What do I do if I get my brows wet?

If you accidentally get your brows wet before 24 hours have passed, all is not lost. You can still take measures to protect and improve the longevity of your brow lamination. The first thing you should do once you realise you got your brows wet is gently dry them with a blow dryer on the cool setting.

In any case, it’s best to avoid using any oils or moisturisers around your eyebrows. Oils will affect the hold and wear off your lamination prematurely, and it’s best to steer clear of them for at least a day after the treatment.

So, if you got your laminated brows wet before 24 hours have passed - don’t panic! While it may impact the longevity of your lamination, taking the proper care and attention can still help them to look great and last long.
